Have You Seen Dancing Tony at Marlins Park?

Posted in Uncategorized on June 17, 2014 by rpmconcerts

On Cloud Conine

If you’ve been to Marlins Park over the past 2.5 seasons, you’ve probably noticed a familiar face appear on Marlins Vision midway through each game.

Tony G, a.k.a. Dancing Tony, is a regular at Marlins Park and on the Marlins Vision Dance Cam. Seated, er… dancing in the aisles, from Section 31, this José’s Heroes member is famous in Little Havana for busting moves like this:

And this:

A long-time member of the #MarlinFamily, Tony usually attends Marlins game with his lovely wife, Lydia.

Tony !

As if starring in Dance Cam weren’t enough, occasionally Tony and Lydia appear on Marlins Vision Kiss Cam, too.

Yesterday on Father’s Day, Tony took in the Marlins game with Lydia and his son, Carlos. Our only question for Tony is when will his famous solo dancing act become a family performance?

Just another reason why the #MarlinFamily is awesome.

British Heavy Metal Legends Saxon, Unleash Brand New “Unplugged and Strung Up” Teaser with Footage

Posted in Concerts, Free Music, Music, New CD Release, New Music, News, Tour Announcement, Uncategorized with tags , on November 21, 2013 by rpmconcerts

New Album of Alternative Takes on Classic Favorites Hits Stores on November 25, 2013

British heavy metal legends SAXON and UDR Music are pleased to reveal a brand new Unplugged and Strung Up album teaser, which also includes snippets of interviews with vocalist Biff Byford. Check out the exclusive new video via UDR Music’s YouTube page here: http://youtu.be/551z5RxDn40

Unplugged and Strung Up hits stores in the US on Monday, November 25th due to the holiday week, via UDR Music.

With Unplugged and Strung Up, SAXON introduces a carefully selected collection of unique, fresh and adventurous interpretations of material previously heard only with raw heavy metal thunder, the point is triumphantly underscored.

Unplugged and Strung Up reveals layers and pieces previously dormant in many of the 14 classic SAXON songs chosen for this makeover, thanks to some ear-catching new arrangements and mixes. Recorded, mixed and mastered with Andy Sneap in Derbyshire, UK earlier this year, Biff and co. re-evaluated, re-worked and re-energized the towering likes of ‘The Eagle Has Landed’ and ‘Crusader’ by introducing orchestral dynamics to offer added dimension. ‘Frozen Rainbow’ from the band’s 1979 debut, gets a stunning acoustic reprisal which transports it into a power ballad to be proud of, whilst ‘Red Star Falling’ soars and sweeps the emotions with its orchestrally-arranged dovetail.

As if this reinvention wasn’t enough, SAXON superfans and collectors can purchase a digipack version of the release which will include 2002’s storming set of full-volume, pedal-to-the-metal re-recorded hits Heavy Metal Thunder. Featuring staple SAXON stormers such as ‘Motorcycle Man’, ‘Strong Arm of the Law’ and ‘Dallas 1pm’, it is a quintessential part of any collection. Order your copy of the digipack version here via Amazon.

Blue Coupe

In honor of World AIDS Day (December 1), “The Epic Queen Tribute Show” is taking place at Saint Vitus Bar in Brooklyn. Many local bands will perform covers of songs by the legendary British rock band Queen, whose original lead singer Freddie Mercury died of AIDS in 1991. Saint Vitus has generously donated the use of their space for this show, and all artists are performing without compensation so that 100% of ticket sales will be donated to the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI).

Artists performing Queen tunes at this “epic” event include Blue Coupe (featuring founding members of Blue Öyster Cult and the original Alice Cooper group), HUFF THIS!, Nick Didkovsky (of Doctor Nerve), Craig Greenberg, Corn Mo (of .357 Lover), XAVIER, Jason Trachtenburg and The Pendulum Swings, Guillotine Riot, Love Crushed Velvet, Chaos & Lace, Jesse Krakow, QRT (with Wizard of Roz), Athena Matsil, Even Twice, Matt Chiaravalle, Rob Walbourne (of Queen Orlenes), Doug Bleek, Oscar Rodriguez and more—with surprise guests!

The show will be MC’ed by NYC improv actor Katie Halper with help from Freddie Mercury look-a-like Ethan Yavin and comedian Lee Camp.

Official sponsors donating covetable raffle prizes include Pentatonic Guitars, Candy Drip clothing, DopDop Salon, and Hair Metal Salon.

Tickets to the show are $10 and may be purchased in advance at Ticketfly.com; they will also be available at the door.

About IAVI: IAVI is a global, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to ensure the development of safe, effective, accessible, preventive HIV vaccines for use throughout the world. Founded in 1996, IAVI works with private companies, academics, and civil society partners in 25 countries to research, design, and develop an AIDS vaccine. (For more information, visit www.iavi.org.)

The Search for an AIDS Vaccine: A clinical trial completed in Thailand in 2009 provided the first demonstration in humans that a vaccine can prevent HIV infection. Some 36 AIDS vaccine clinical trials testing a variety of candidates and vaccine concepts are currently underway, and the field requires a considerable investment of time, talent and resources to maintain the momentum of progress.

What You Should Know About AIDS Vaccine Development: Every day, 6,300 people are newly infected with HIV, and more than 4,300 die from AIDS-related causes. New treatment options have helped stem the tide of HIV in recent years, but an AIDS vaccine is the world’s best hope for ending the AIDS pandemic. Even a vaccine that is 50 percent effective at preventing HIV infections could have a considerable impact on new infections around the world, especially in the regions hardest hit by the pandemic, such as India and South Africa.

For further information on the show, please contact Linda Leseman (linda.c.leseman@gmail.com).

The Record Company’s new E.P.

Posted in Free Music, Music, New CD Release, New Music with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 19, 2013 by rpmconcerts
Feels so Good is Influenced by Morphine and The Stooges, yet steeped in the classic styles of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker comes the new raw sound of the LA based rock/blues/roots trio, THE RECORD COMPANY.  They’ve burst onto the scene in an alarmingly short amount of time, forming just a little under two years ago, and have already gained high praises and garnered the attention of some of music’s top names.  Highlights to date include performing shows with Buddy Guy, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Social Distortion, Ivan & Alyosha, and JD McPherson.  Next month, they’ll even share a bill with the legendary B.B. King at the Segerstrom Center in Costa Mesa!  The Record Company released Feels So Good, their second EP, on November 19th.
THE RECORD COMPANY has received wide-spread exposure through the use of their new title track “Feels So Good” in the theatrical trailer for “Last Vegas,” starring Morgan Freeman and Robert De Niro (watch HERE). The band has scored other placements and syncs simply by building their buzz organically, including having songs on ABC’s Nashville, CBS’ Elementary and Reckless, and USA’s Suits, Necessary Roughness, and Royal Pains.  Their songs have also been used in ads for Kohler, Subaru, Coors Light, and ABC Sports.
Jason Kramer (KCRW) raved that “The first time I saw them I was mesmerized…a classic blues feel with a rock n’ roll vibe.  It feels incredibly natural,” while Time Out LA stated “The band’s sound is raw, definitely bluesy and reminiscent of some of the best acts of the ’50s and ’60s – like if John Lee Hooker and the Stooges had a well-behaved love child.”
Last week, Elmore Magazine premiered the new title track along with a video from their recently taped live concert session in front of a private audience.  Check it out HERE.
The Record Company consists of Chris Vos on vocal, guitar and harmonica; bassist/vocalist Alex Stiff; and drummer/vocalist Marc Cazorla. The band came together in Los Angeles, but their sound is rooted in their years of musical fandom growing up in Milwaukee (Vos), Philadelphia (Stiff) and upstate New York (Cazorla).   The band released their first EP, Superdead, in July 2012.  While never trying to simply emulate the great masters, the band have found their own fresh take on the music and can best be described as a group giving a 21st century nod to a timeless art form.  “One night we may be playing with a rockabilly band, the next night with a punk band or a blues act, and we’ll get great response from those different audiences. The music’s close enough to the bone, where we can cross a lot of genres and know that we’re connecting with people,” says Chris.
A stream of their new EP is available HERE with a full download available HERE.

No Rest for the Weary

Posted in Uncategorized on November 18, 2013 by rpmconcerts

We look back a few months and notice I haven’t covered a lot of what has been happening in my own back yard. I received a great promotion at work, however, now I am at work a lot more.

I have finally reached a balance in life. I will get this pressed out much more often. There is so much great music, and so many great concerts that I get to enjoy, and share with you.

Last weekend, I spent at the races. I was supposed to be at the Miami Jazz Fest, but I ended up with a last minute meeting at work that really wrecked my Saturday. I have made sure not to let this happen this weekend! Watch for more on this story. I have been waiting for this weekend for over 20 years!
