What are locals entitled to?

Posted in Uncategorized on January 28, 2009 by rpmshows

I am fed up with this attitude that I get from the locals in Islamorada. They are upset when they do not get a locals discount. Should you not be greatful that there are visitors in “your” establishments paying “your” bills? I am ticked off when I walk into a joint and the management has decided that since my license doesn’t have an Islamorada address, that I should pay more for their services rendered. In this case I am thrilled to come all the way back to Homestead, to spend my hard earned dollars.

Let’s start in Homestead and travel throughout the year the year. Beginning in January, I am delighted when sweaty cowboy and cowgirls are spending their very hard earned dollars in my neighborhood. Then, in November; How rediculous would it be to get a “locals” discount to the most important Nascar weekend? Our city has done us a favor by controlling traffic and giving all of these visitors a place to park. I have met several drivers, teams, and owners, in this towns establishments. Noone has EVER acted like we owed them anything, so why should we act like we deserve more than them?

Skip Bayless is Worthless

My wife Ashley knows more than Skip does. Skip needs to trade in his “sports” coat for those goofy white shorts he likes to wear while playing tennis at his favorite JCC.

I’ll take your money on the 10 points against Bama

Posted in Alabama Football, Sports on December 6, 2008 by rpmshows

It has now been just over three months since the beginning of this glorious football season! I am continually swamped with Gator fans hissing ridiculous statements in my direction. Coach “Bear” used to say, “The only thing that matters at the end of the game is what the scoreboard reads.”!

When we look at the records going into the championship in under twelve hours, let us remember who has one loss, and where it came from. That loss should be put in a column under coaching! How do you let a game get that out of hand? How do you take the nation’s current Heisman owner, and jeopardize his prime likely-hood of retaining the trophy, and of your team losing the game?

The real chance that Alabama has to lose this game, is by allowing the same man, Tim Tebow, to blow this game out of the water! I’m sure that Harvin is going to make an ill advised decision, and get Meyers to let him play. He is a great receiver and special teams player, but I do not think his involvement in this contest is worth his career. On the same notes, if Florida does not contain the kick returns, and allows Alabama to start off on out own side of the field, they will be hard pressed to keep points off of the board.

Special teams will be the most exciting part of this game to watch. This will undoubtedly determine every other move in the championship. If Alabama cannot contain the returns, or allows kicks blocked, Tebow will be able to build an insurmountable lead by half time. As long as Bama keeps it close, Saban has been to this dance before, and knows how to bring home the hardware. He will not let the kids get ahead of themselves, or down on themselves. He certainly will not pull a dumb play out of his hat or insert your analogy here ______________________________. Be rest assured, that this year the SEC will once again own that BCS trophy.

Big Twelve, it was fun watching those games. Instead of crying over not bringing home the trophy, why don’t you fix your tie break, so that we can enjoy watching you Championship game as well. When the score is 60-3 at half, why don’t you let the kids go home early? Do you really think anyone is sitting around still watching your Dr. Pepper and Moon Pie commercials? Let’s figure out a mercy rule! You don’t want your kids playing football more than the first week when they come back from Christmas break, for your multi-million dollar to the schools, not the students Bowl games. I think five touchdowns is good. If you relinquish a 35 point lead, then you should relinquish your job as coach also, because I could randomly pick better plays than you.

I expect a good clean fight, tap gloves, LET”S GET IT ON!

Football follies this weekend

So we start with a 5 point spread of USC over Ohio State. I really wish that we could have to losers of a game in football! I really think this game will end up at 45-28 USC. I know that USC is not that good, but I also know that Ohio State can really play that badly. I want there to be the biggest upset since 1974. I have all the faith in the world after that point for Ohio State to comfortably give their title hopes away this year at many points. My hatred for the Pac-10 comes from their inability to produce anything except an overblown New York style USC team every year. My hatred for the Big 10 comes from the fact that I cannot stand how much power their commissioner has, in such a poorly drawn up conference. I will address all of my ACC friends in 2-4 years when you have something to play with…

Another hall of famer qb may never be the same after Brady took that gentle rock to the knee. We have seen lots of greats go directly downhill in their career from these injuries. I do feel happy for the Jets though ( Take a picture, probably the only time you will ever see me say this). I am just a HUGE Farve fan, and even though he wears evil laundry, I feel as though I should be supportive of his decisions…I realize that probably reads a little creepy. Have fun watching this game, and I expect some kind of spectacle, and even debauchery as those mean NY natives go at each others throats for a win this weekend.  I hope they set up security check points for hammers on the subway…They always tell you not to look at people in the eye, when you ride, but you should always wear a helmet! Sure people might look at you and think you missed your trip on the short bus, but the bright side is when you get to your stop, and the conductor says, “please remove ALL personal items before leaving the train”. You will be able to oblige everyone and take you brain along with you.

Hurricanes in town, and around us…But the Tide is Rollin’ through Clemson

Posted in Sports on August 30, 2008 by rpmshows

Earlier today an ESPN analyst stated, “Clemson is the best team that the ACC has to offer”. A moment ago, Brent Musburger, repeated this statement. The validity of these statements are premature at the least. If they are true however, it makes me feel bad for my friends down here, in Miami. I feel pretty good about the chances of the Tide, in their second year under Saban. They have to play UG and LSU on the road, but they get Auburn at home. Auburn has a little tougher time staying undefeated until the Iron Bowl. I expect that match-up to really decide the most probable player for the BCS. Including the re-pitting of a previously beaten SEC opponent in the SEC championship game, could only fuel their hunt for the only Bowl win that matters.

I’ll update with pics later! I foresee Farve in a Minnesota jersey! I really hope it happens! My two new favorite teams will be the Redskins and the Vikings! More soon to come!

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Tarvaris Jackson is still trying to learn when to throw the ball away. “That is the biggest thing I have to get over,” Jackson said. “I can’t save every play. Once I get that down, I think I will be OK.” Jackson threw several interceptions in Tuesday morning’s practice.

Well, I sure bet all of you die hard Vik fans are glad to hear this great enlightenment that your qb had. Too bad the only good thing he can throw out are ideas. I just do not want Farve to go to the Jets. Only if that is his last option. The last thing in my life is to hear more crap from stupid New Yorkers when they invade my city while the weather is better than theirs.

Getting the wool pulled over your eyes

Posted in Concerts on July 20, 2008 by rpmshows

I truly believe that if you can rave about a show, then you can surely criticize one.  I  was supposed to attend a Red concert last Thursday night.  Their radio commercial even titled it as, “The concert event of the Summer; doors open at 7pm”. I have been to some all day festivals, and sporting events where the doors open 3 hours before the festivities begin. What we all received was an incredible SHOCK, when we had people walk up and tell us that the show didn’t even start until 9:15. It is pretty obvious, if you have people “preaching” on the front end that they will surely run over their allotted time frame. At 10:15, “Welcome Red!” is heard, and my friends and I leave. What a friggin’ incredible waste of my Thursday night! The thought process to lie to people, and get them to come to church, on an entirely different basis than what it is, has never occurred to me. I am comfortable enough in my own witness, actually not even to have arguments with them, over God/religion, not that I care much for religion…It absolutely ticks me off!,  that you are so insecure, that you would jeopardize someones eternal soul, for some stupid purpose, that I totally missed! I’m not even sure who G12 is, but I would love to let them know, for every church model, they have found/followed, and maybe even succeeded with, that this is a model that should be dropped by all churches! All week, I tried to get friends from school to go with me, and I thought it would be a great witnessing tool. I am so happy that none of them made it, to a three hour waste of many peoples lives! There is a lot less indecency, having your sub-par , praise band, open up for some big band that you paid good money to bring in as missionaries. Listen churches!, this pathetic model has never worked, and does not work! If you are lead your congregation correctly, then they will do the job God gave them! They will go and disciple their friends/each other, and hopefully unsaved people along the way. I sure have a passion to reach the unsaved. I would view my relationship with Christ, a waste if I did not bring Him to my friends and create community with them. You should quit worrying about the unchurched, and reach the unsaved! I know in this town, numbers and actuality get in the way, but FOCUS! I’m tired of these kind of people screwing up the change that I am trying to help my friends make!

Will work for venue

Posted in Uncategorized on April 6, 2008 by rpmshows

In the event that I am unable to resolve the issue with our use of the old Life Pointe building; I am in desperate need of a building. These shows have been an amazing opportunity to develop the community, and present Christ to people in a “real” way. I am asking for specific blog help from Travis Johnson, Chris Day, Dan Bard, and Jeff Reed. Anyone else, who could possibly point me in the direction of a venue, we would all greatly appreciate it. This venue is not a cash cow, nor is it an implement of destruction. This walled structure is a performance arena of amazing talents that God has blessed a lot of young people. It is also a safe harbor, and an incredible podium to deliver the message of Christ’s love for us. We do not bring in anyone who is out for ill will, and not all bands that preform are “Christian”. I am not looking to shut out the sick and dying, but I promise you that we take care of everyone involved, and safety is a great responsibility. This is my passion in life! I do not know many people in the world with, that have young people come up and tell them that they would like to be part of something. We have had people come to Christ through this, and just as many people become involved in our ministry at church. This has reached some amazing people, and I intend on continuing to have an open stage of discussion with my lost friends in Miami. “Whatever it takes!”. I fully trust God to work things out in His design. At a point, you have to take actions to finish out what He has sent you to do. Please respond to this post at rpmconcerts@gmail.com.

Love,

Casey

My message to the fans of local music.

Posted in Concerts on April 6, 2008 by rpmshows

Aloha from Hawaii, on my honeymoon. I am sorry for the issues that have arose today. I have faith that Zack, Chris, and Zech, are doing their best to move this show to another location, for your enjoyment. Please cooperate with everyone at the show today. Love each other, and appreciate the hard work that has occured from all over the US to make today possible. Respect the people kind enough to allow the show to occur on a short notice. Throw trash away in it’s proper places, pay for your admission, and buy as much merchandise from the bands, as your budget allows for. Mahalo (thank-you) for being so understanding in this time. I am very sorry that I am too far away to do anything greater to help. I PROMISE to acquire other venues for us to enjoy in the near future. I already have many people there, working in our favor.

The owner’s of Hope Academy (f.k.a. Life Pointe) are NOT pastor’s. I do not want you to think of them as such either! I am adamant about not allowing this to make the true church look bad. The staff at Life Pointe Church has always been our ally. My pastors there, have always gone out of their way to provide what we need. We have worked together, much to hard for this opportunity to make us all look bad. As a community of art appreciating citizens, I want us to stay united. The easiest thing in the world, would be to retaliate against the school. I do not want to see anyone take the easy road out of this problem, I know that everyone is capable of being amazing. This is not about “my” shows, or “Zack’s” shows. It is about our passion. This is the second greatest thing in the world to posses, after a relationship with Christ (Psalm 37:4). We have some amazing shows coming this summer. I intend of having the best summer of our lives together. The shows will continue to get better. If you have any doubts about where things are going, simply look at where we came from. I truly love all of you. Ashley and I look forward to having shows with you all for many years to come. My passion alone, cannot be killed, except by taking my breathe. We will see you soon. Have an amazing day today! Please continue to make me proud in my absence. Stay tuned to the scene to see the solution. If you need anything, feel free to e-mail me at rpmconcerts@gmail.com.

Love,
Casey Watkins
